MEETINGS

Meetings are held at the Home Wine, Beer, and Cheesemaking Shop, 22836 Ventura Blvd. #2, Woodland Hills (across the street from the Bank of America parking lot).  (Click here for Directions)  The "shop", as we call it, has everything you'll ever need for beer and wine making, plus a proprietor, John Daumé, who is a guru to us all and generously makes a back room available for our meetings.  Guests, 21 years of age or older, are welcome to attend meetings to see if the club is of interest to them.

Most monthly meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at the shop (except December when the meeting event is our annual holiday party), but check the calendar always for possible variations from this schedule.  Sometimes we meet at a nearby winery for a special occasion.

The meeting starts with a pot luck at 6:30 p.m. followed by a lively discussion on some wine related theme. Bring a favorite dish to share and a bottle of wine along with a wine glass or two.

See the newsletter for this month's discussion topic and to see what the food theme is.  (We do different pot luck themes each month.)

A typical meeting

6:30: First arrivals help setup tables and chairs.  Shared wine, homemade or commercial, is put out on a "share table".
7:00: Pot-luck dinner begins.
7:30: The meeting starts, beginning with a review of upcoming events followed by a talk given by a member or guest wine professional.   Speakers have been from all walks of the industry—growers, wine makers, distributors, retailers, educators, laboratory analysts, cork experts... you name it.  Many bring wines along with their expertise—that's why the extra glass.
8:30 - 9:00: Cleanup and socializing.

It's a wonderful and rewarding hobby.

Hope to see you there!
